Another option is to make your own consommé or simple broth at home. It can be prepared in a big batch and then frozen in small portions so you’ve got it ready in advance.

Just remember: if you can’t see right through it, it’s not clear enough for prep.

Even the ones that look clear on the label come out cloudy with bits in them. Trick is: strain everything. Swanson chicken broth or Pacific bone broth are fine if you pour them through a coffee filter.
