About the Author
Hey! I’m Christie K and I’m here to share tasty clear liquid diet recipes with you unfortunate souls who have been forced to go on this incredibly unsexy diet. This isn’t trendy paleo or keto, or detox or any other diet fashion. This is serious. You’ve likely been told to go on this diet for a short time (1-3 days) for medical reasons.
Let’s face it, it is not a pleasant diet to be on. So I’m here to try and take the edge off, and hopefully make it a bit easier for you to find some food you can enjoy. Be prepared for lots of soup, drinks and gelatin because that’s all that’s allowed!
Why Clear Colon Diet?
You might be wondering who on Earth would be impassioned enough to start a website about a one-day diet you only go on when you need to clean out your bowels in prep for colonoscopy or recover from bowel surgery. That is a great question, and I don’t blame you for wondering.
My background is not in health or medicine, but I do have a passion for experimental cooking, processed food production and food science. I am not a chef, just a curious person who likes to tinker around the kitchen. I have however researched food science and processed food production extensively, and I even wrote a book about processed food production last year to much critical acclaim (under a different pen-name).
While others grimace at having to cater for someone with strict dietary requirements, on the contrary, I love the challenge. So, when recently my partner was required to go on a clear liquid diet to prepare for a colonoscopy (along with all of his 6 sisters and brothers) as a precautionary measure owing to hereditary bowel cancer, I took on the task of cooking for him. And woah, was it difficult. The clear liquid diet is a real head-spinner when it comes to food experimentation and certainly the greatest cooking challenge I’d encountered.
In preparing his meals and trying to find information on what exactly I could cook within the parameters the doctor gave us, I came to realise that there are no recipes or practical tips on how to actually prepare real food that fits within the extremely strict clear liquid diet requirements. Yes, there are many lists that tell you what you can and can’t eat, but no actionable guides or recipes.
So, that was my cue to step in and share some practical clear liquid diet meal ideas and recipes with you. I hope you enjoy and find something to satisfy your hunger…. at least until you can finally get some real, solid food again!
