Need your sweet slushie in a hurry? Here is a super quick and easy recipe for a slushie made with good ol’ Kool Aid.
You almost don’t even need a recipe for this, but since it’s so easy to write one, why not share it?
The most important thing when making this on a clear liquid diet is to choose the right flavor.
And by that, I don’t mean choose the best tasting flavor, although that is a dilemma too, since there are about 22 flavors or so.
What I mean, is that Kool Aid is a mixture of artificial flavors and colors, and as you know, when preparing for a colonoscopy you need to avoid certain colors (red/purple) so they don’t stain your insides. The flavor doesn’t matter, it is the color that is the problem. In particular you need to avoid the color red/purple, because if it stains your colon it can be mistaken for blood during your examination, so it is really important to avoid it.
When choosing Kool Aid, AVOID the following which contain artificial red/purple colors:
- Cherry (bright red)
- Grape (deep purple)
- Tropical Punch (bright red)
- Black Cherry (dark red)
- Mixed Berry (deep purple)
- Strawberry (bright red)
Where possible, try to select Kool Aid flavors with light colors, such as Lemonade, Lemon-Lime and Lemonade Ice. That way you can enjoy your slushie safely, without breaking your clear liquid diet.
