5-Minute Better than Bouillon Clear Liquid Diet Soup (Colonoscopy Prep Friendly)
Okay fellow preppers, here’s my go-to lifesaver recipe for when I was on the clear liquid diet and needed something that felt like a real meal in no time:
5-Minute Better than Bouillon Clear Liquid Diet Soup
- Heat 2 cups of water in a small pot, with a sprig of fresh parsley
- Stir in 1 tsp chicken Better than Bouillon (or veggie if you prefer)
- Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes, then strain out the parsley.
If you want to fancy things up a bit, try these additions:
- Ginger kick: Add a thin slice of fresh ginger while the water heats, then remove it before sipping — cozy and warming
- Citrus twist: A splash of lemon or lime juice for brightness
- Umami boost: A dash of strained soy sauce or fish sauce if you want that ramen-y umami kick
Pour into your fave mug with a dash of cold water if you don’t want it piping hot, and enjoy on the couch with a movie or a good book. As well as clear liquid diet, this is a great one for those cold winter nights when you just want something warm and salty to sip on.
It’s not fancy, but when you’re on day two of broth and juice, this tastes like liquid gold.
Thank you, Jess! I’ve been living on plain broth and it’s so boring. Adding lemon is genius — gives it that little zing.
Yep, solid hack. I just keep a jar of Better than Bouillon in the fridge for this exact reason. Fast, easy, no fuss.
I’ve made something similar for folks I’ve cared for. Straining out the parsley is smart — you get the flavor without risking any tiny bits. Comfort in a cup.
I second the lemon idea 👌 Tried it just now as a test run for my colonoscopy next week — way better than plain broth. Added a dash of soy sauce too (strained). Felt like ramen-lite 😂
I made mine with the veggie base. Warm, salty, and surprisingly filling for such a simple thing. Definitely recommend for anyone nervous about prep meals.
